Studying Rivers: a Practical Introduction
This 60-minute DVD provides an introduction to some of the many projects which can be undertaken by GCSE and ‘A’ Level students (and equivalents). Starting with a 15-minute introduction for the teacher, it then moves on to hypothesis testing. From there it works through some more demanding projects measuring stream flow characteristics and calculating discharge. At the backbone of the DVD is systematic, disciplined and scientific methodology.

Rivers: Shapes of Earth Landscapes
From lush, tropical rainforests to barren deserts, Earth’s landscapes are shaped by the force of running water. Studying Sediments in Motion: a Practical Introduction
Filmed on location in South Wales, this DVD leads teachers and students through some of the observational project work that can be undertaken. Students are shown in action, measuring sediment transport rates (in beach sand dunes and a beach stream) and analysing their results. The DVD also includes a separate introduction for the teacher.

The Hydrologic Cycle: Water in Motion
Dynamic computer graphics and live action footage show the path of water as it evaporates from the vast surfaces of the oceans, condenses as clouds from invisible water vapour, is released as rain and snow, and finally runs off the earth’s surface in streams and rivers.

Waves, Tides and the Coastal Environment
As a result of myriad interacting processes, coastlines present a mosaic of varied and ever changing environments that range from precipitous sea cliffs, to estuarine mud flats, and long stretches of dune-backed sandy beaches. Each environment provides a different type of habitat for plant and animal life, and all are affected by the interplay of land and water. This programme explains how the ceaseless motion of waves and currents and the rise and fall of tides contribute to the constant modification of the coastal zones dynamic land/water interface.
