Europe from Space
This remarkable portrait of Europe from space was produced from resolution data collected from the NOAA group of weather satellites which orbit the earth at an altitude of over 820 km (520 miles). This satellite image was enhanced with shaded relief produced from a high-resolution digital model. The resulting portrait of Europe extends from Morocco in the west past the Ural mountains in the east and from the Barents Sea in the north to the Gulf of Suez in the south. In between can be clearly seen the snowcapped peaks of the Alps and the Pyrennees, and the wonderful fernlike effect of the Norwegian fjords.

Asia from Space
See Asia, projected to provide a new outlook on its surroundings and the proximity of its many nations, to each other and to the neighbouring continents. The relatively arid conditions of India and the deserts of China stand in stark contrast to the lush boreal forests of Siberia and the jungles of South East Asia. The vastness of the Himalayas and the extremes of the ocean floor bear witness to the active geology of this region of the world. So drift across the polar ice cap into the ancient mysteries of the Orient and splash in the clear waters of the island nations of the South Pacific finally settling in on Australia, the world's smallest populated continent.

Australasia from Space
The portrait of Australasia extends from the Arctic to the Antarctic and from Burma in the east to just west of the Hawaiian islands. The contrast between the verdant green of the coastline of the earth’s largest island and the harsh red of the inland desert is strongly and vividly pictured. To the south west the North and South islands of New Zealand can be seen, while north of Australia itself the thousands of islands which make up the Indonesian archipelago shine like emeralds in the azure of the Pacific Ocean.

North America from Space
The portrait of North America extends from Ireland and the UK in the east to the tip of the Aleutians in the west and from Siberia in the north to the Galapagos Islands, off the coast of Ecuador, in the south. The continent of North America is cropped to show its proximity to Asia, over the polar icecap, the tiny gap between American Alaska and Russian Siberia, and South America drifting off to the south of the image. Note the relatively arid vegetation patterns of the Midwest culminating in the salt flats extending from the Great Salt Lake of Utah and moving south and west into the desert regions of Nevada. Compare the dense and vigorous vegetation patterns of the tropical jungles of northern South America to the more moderate boreal forests of the eastern United States and Canada where the tree line can be seen to migrate north the further west it goes.

South America from Space
This vibrantly coloured map covers from the eastern seaboard of the United States, showing the Caribbean and its many islands, and the entirety of South America down to its tip at Tierra del Fuego, below which is nothing but clear blue ocean fading to icy white at the edges of the Antarctic. South America sits isolated and surrounded by oceans on all sides, exhibiting the lush and radiant greens of tropical rainforests in its central regions and contrasting with the desert conditions of the central Andes mountains. Look closely at the south where clear cutting of the rainforests is plainly visible. Also noteworthy are Rio Negro and Amazons, the two major tributaries of the Amazon, which are visible for hundreds of miles west of their juncture at Manaus, already a thousand miles inland.
